2020: Cyclone Amphan Relief
The super cyclone Amphan ravaged the rural and coastal communities of West Bengal and Orissa, India affecting nearly 30 million people. Hundreds of villages are virtually decimated, homes are destroyed, roads, bridges, water supply and communication systems were damaged and disrupted. The impact of the disaster from the cyclone was further enhanced by the unplanned COVID 19 lockdown with resultant delay in evacuation and relief endeavors. Our local Caring Hands volunteers are worked with several grassroots level organizations in South and North 24 Parganas, Sunderban Area, Kolkata, WB, India and provided food rations, masks, temporary shelters and medical help. We also rebuilt/repaired 100 damaged residential structures.
